Genitive chains in spoken and written corpora (based on the material of the corpora ORAL2013 and SYN2015)
STRAŠILOVÁ, Jana
The thesis focuses on the constructions of language which are formed by the chaining of nouns in genitive. This phenomenon is connected mainly to stylistics of written texts in journalistic, administrative and scholarly field. Genitive chain as a part of the coherence of the text, is frequently evaluated as negative because it aggravates the understanding of the message. It is therefore assumed that these structures are rather present in written than in spoken discourse not only because of better understanding but also because these constructions are more difficult in cognitive processing. The analysis is based on the comparison between the corpus of spoken language (ORAL2013) and the corpus of written language (SYN2015). Besides this comparison, the thesis also observes which words (according to their semantics) are more likely to construct these chains.

Part of the verbal phrasal idioms have great variability of the verbal component, which is observed and classified according to whether it is still the variant of the relevant phrasal idiom, or whether some new meaning appears. The next goal is to consider the reliability of the automatic marking.
